Inspired by both the Arts and Crafts movement and Japanese furniture, this fumed white oak and leather firewood rack was conceived as a workhorse as well as showpiece that would be at home in a well-curated room of fine furniture. Since it will show a bit of wear with use, we chose a traditional ammonia fuming process that darkens and deepens the color of the wood well below the surface, and we finished it with a penetrating Danish oil. This allows the piece to retain its color and sheen even if it gets dinged or scratched up a bit. For the same reason, we used full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather for the hand-sewn sling, which will wear gracefully, darkening and developing character with use. The sling is removable, becoming a carrier for retrieving wood from the woodpile. It can also hang from the rack while loaded with firewood, or for greater capacity, you can roll up the sling and set it aside, filling the rack directly.
 
Care Instructions: Recommended for indoor use only. Finish can be easily replenished by wiping on a coat of Danish oil.
