The Orbit Bowl starts with a blank of solid walnut which is cut open at an angle and re-glued with a sheet of maple veneer in between. After repeating this process a second time, we then turn the bowl on the lathe. The result is two pencil-thin, intersecting rings that traverse the contours of the bowl in a surprising trajectory.
