Torus
Torus: A surface of revolution generated by revolving a circle in three dimensional space about an axis that is co-planer with the circle. You know, a doughnut. For me it began as a challenge on the lathe. Certainly it has its uses - as a vessel for serving mixed nuts or circular crackers. For me it's a showpiece, a small marvel of engineering that results in a strangely elegant form. There's something about the lines of a turned bowl that exhibit wood grain to its fullest expression. The additional complexity of the Torus bowl's geometry reveals all the more surface for the wood grain to do its mesmerizing dance.
